Fragment of the speech of
the President from the United States Barack Obama in the Democratic Convention
of 2004:
"People don't hope the government solves
all his problems. However, if they feel, in the deepest in their ser…that…we
can to assure that each boy in United States has a decent possibility for his
life and that the doors of the opportunity remain open for all."
(Note: I sorry a lot, that this article have almost left 20 days
after the visit to our country of the President Barack Obama, questions unaware
to my will and others economic questions impeded me on time to place it in my
Blog, nevertheless here you have it. A thousand excuses.)
In March 4, 1925 were invested as President of the
USA, the member of the Republican Party, John Calvin Coolidge (4/julio/1872 -
5/1/1933), that event marked the beginning of its second command, as the
Thirtieth President of the United States when winning in the 35º presidential elections
of the Union, also winning in 35 States, in November of 1924.
Three years later, January 16 of 1928, 88 years ago and
2 months, he was visit the Havana City, John Calvin Coolidge, was a non
official visit and he has been the only President in functions of its exercises
of the United States of America that has made it until today, the President of
Cuba in that time was Mr. Geraldo Machado and Morales.
In that time our country was in a really complex
situation, the first manifestations of the republican structural crisis began
that the country lived, so much economic as politics and with the existence of
a great waste of the prevailing system, the tyrant's government Machado gave
kick to be preserved in the power, trying the same as today, of implementing
some reformations that not even served like cure to the existent desbalance in
almost all the spheres of the Cuban society. The administration of Machado in
its agony, applied diverse repressive actions against all those that didn't
approve his project and under this context, the tyrant Machado found the North
American neighbor's support, when the President Calvin Coolidge accepts the
invitation of visiting the Havana.
The President Calvin Coolidge, with a public image of
being a "man of few words", enemy of giving long speeches and fond to
only speak the necessary and indispensable, nicknamed in a celebrated way for
the American press as "Silent Cal" or "Cal the Silent one",
In January 16 of 1928 when being inaugurated the Sixth Pan-American Conference,
he gave a speech, where it expressed with the same rhetoric laudatory
machadista, the supposed kindness and the excellent situation of the country,
referring with a subliminal language, to show this situation, like intrinsic
part of the politics of the own United States and it edulcorated to the Cuban
President and their shift clique with expressions like, "… the government
and the country have risen to a discharge and honorable position…using the
genuine expression of the public opinion,… ennobled in the administration and
the universal respect… ", with these words Coolidge tried to strengthen
the permanency of that tyranny in the power.
The
years passed, almost one century and in so single five days will be repeat the
history with the trip to Cuba of Barack Hussein Obama II (Honolulu, Hawái
August 4 1961), the fortieth fourt and current President from the United States
of America, the first Afro-American nominated to the presidency by the
Democratic Party and the first one in exercising the presidential position
except that won't take place the commendation to the Cuban government the same
as the times of Cal Coolidge, this visit announcement to Havana is up to now
the maximum registered step in the normalization of relationships between Cuba
and United States after decades of misunderstanding, Obama propitiated and
announced the past December 17, 2014 the reestablishment of the diplomatic
relationships with Cuba and with this historical trip, he wants to make sure
that won't have returned behind in the approach with Cuba, to take the message
that it is "to favor" of the Cuban people and at the same time to
take advantage of to the maximum the time that he has left of command to deepen
up to where it is possible the bilateral approach
Cuba,
the same as in the times of Calvin Coolidge, is in a really complex and
difficult situation, it exists a structural crisis of the economic one and the
social thing and with the existence of a great waste of the prevailing
political system, the current Cuban government, equal gives kick to be
preserved in the power, trying to implement some reformations with his famous "Lineamientos"
that until today to anything drive, the
same at the past, they not even serve from cure to the existent desbalance in
almost all the spheres of the current Cuban society. The old and rancid
administration of the General President in their desperation, apply diverse
repressive actions against all those that go against their interests and under
this context it injures the democracy, the system it is a military dictatorship
where there is abuse in many aspects of human rights, civil and constitutional rights,
but with the great difference that today's tyrant didn't find the neighboring
North American president's support, when he visit the Havana City.
The
North American President Barack Obama in an interview in which recapitulated
that obtained in a year of relationships with Havana said: " If I will visit Cuba,
then part of the treatment is that has the opportunity to speak with
everybody…,I have left very clear in my conversations directly with the
president Castro that we want to arrive to those that want to enlarge the reach
of, …you already know…, the freedom of speech inside Cuba", "…Castro
should accelerate the reformations and to make those changes if he wants the
full benefits of the normalization and that United States lifts the
seizure"
Barack
Obama is not Calvin Coolidge, he has said, that it doesn't interest him to
validate the status quo of the government of Cuba, it has assured that there
are fundamental aspects that are pending in the relationship with Cuba, the
political prisoners that some were liberated and they have been taken again to
the jail and the restrictions in the freedom of speech and of press. As Obama
said: "it is the moment to throw
light about the reached progresses" and "perhaps to give an impulse
to the Cuban government in another address". is the Cuban Government
the one that has paralyzed the Cuban society through infinite prohibitions in
space and time, one cannot speak of freedom and sovereignty without taking
responsibility for the resulting consequences of the decisions that the leaders
of the nation should take to facilitate the progress of their nation.
It
is not, Obama said, "only of a new hand of painting in the buildings along
my itinerary". With relationship to Raúl Castro said: "it is somebody that has gone by many stages
and that he had a lot of power beside their brother, to their 85 years he is
not the same person that at their 35. It is somebody very committed with the regime
that has mistrust for the full democracy and that he is not a liberal. But I
see a lot of pragmatism in him, he is not an ideologist but rather it is
similar to the reformists from China that I lower the leadership of Deng Xiaoping
they began a change toward the economy of even low market an unique
party". "I Believe that it will be cautious about how express he will
make the opening and it recognizes the vulnerabilities of the economic and
political system of Cuba. It will try to impel the economic transformations and

his desire to help to that these change takes place before he and its brother
disappear."
I
have listened and read and mention that "in all their history, Cuba has
never had a normal relationship with United States and I doubt that ends up
having it in the predictable future"
February
17, 2016, were completed one year and
two months of the announcement of a politics of having called normalization of
the relationships between Cuba and USA, in a few days the president Barack
Obama will come, it has gone out very well politically with the normalization
bet and there won't be another topic in all his legacy that has so much support
inside United States. This normalization is the change of more importance in
the Island and it has consisted on an increase of North American visitors with
the traditional increase of the revenues in foreign currencies mainly for the
Government and of the foreign operators of tourist facilities, that which is up
to now is the economic event of more significance in Cuba in the last year.
Obama
found a country where the current situation socio-economy and politics
continues being precarious and it advances
quickly and without pause toward the chronic shortage of all type, of foods
and of rights, a situation that affects to the whole country together to the
repression, against all that that dares to be expressed or to act in a contrary
way or that it dents some tentacle of the government absolutist, overpowering
and hostile machinery, like they could be that of the words of this writing,
because they don't realize or they don't want to realize that to criticize is
not to censor, it´s not to bite, but it is to make use of the exercise of the
own approach, while they sustain the silent in its informative organs about the
repression of social activities contrary to the ideas of the goverment, to this
one unites the exodus of Cuban of all the ages, mainly young, looking for new
horizons and in the face of the fear that the Law of Adjustment disappears,
which is not far from resembling an exodus of refugees to the style Europe,
everything is an expression that the expectations of the Cubans on the future
of the country are not encouraging and they demean per days.
The
President Barack Obama, on the other hand, will know the mismanagement of the youngest
of Castro, Raúl Modesto Castro Ruz, who has not demonstrated to be able to
create a favorable climate to the business that it contributes to take out the
national economy of its permanent crisis, he is administering the country like a
military camp, like an absolute, primitive and slavery, full monarchy the dome
of power of medieval military generals and oldman of the most reluctant
orthodox communist lineage, suspicious of a sudden change and lack of control
that it snatches the power, maintaining the politics of to ascend or to lower
the thumb to approve or to disapprove and to take arbitrary and radical
measures, like a Roman Emperor in the Coliseum.
The
Cubans know that it urges to change the apocryphal mentality with conceptualization
of the reality and to disarticulate the basic structure of the obsolete thought
that it doesn't allow the truth it is enthroned, it urges so that the pores of
the justice fester the light that illuminates it stops out but it also stops
inside because justice is an alone one and one will never be able to politizar
and that should be made know, the reality is that the economy and the politics
don't give samples of being experiencing substantial improvements, everything
in connection with the ineptitude and the siblings' irresponsibility, increased
by the inability of implementing the announced reformations, not alone for the
population's benefit but for the own Government, that which is unusual, the
country follows its process of continuous and irreversible deterioration and
drowns in its putrid mud, with its permanent dependence of external sources of
help, now with the possible addition of the capitalists of USA, and the
additional loss of their human capital in professional and technical young
workers' form, as one can observe in the current exodus
When
arriving in Cuba, Barack Obama didn't find the same panoram of its homologous
Calvin Coolidge, but on the contrary, he will be able to feel that the Cuban
Government's boss, will demand him the rising of all the economic sanctions,
the refund of the naval base of Gitmo, the elimination of the Law of Cuban
Adjustment and the closing of the stations of Radio and Television Martí, that
transmit toward the Island, on the other hand, question that until it could
seem logical. One must also wait that Obama, as President and Boss of the
American Government must adopt a posture that looks for to maximize to the
independent civil society in Cuba, to stimulate the growth of the sector of
workers self-employed and to foment and to demand a bigger tolerance toward the
dissidence and respect to the human rights on the part of Castro's totalitarian
government, they are visions that to our loyalist to know and to understand,
they are irreconcilable and where the challenges are immense
Fidel
and Raúl Castro and their near acolytes, they imposed the Cubans and they
served to the world their Rebellious Revolution, as a process in search of the
economic independence of the country with relationship to USA, today for irony
of the history and after almost 58 years of suffering the monster diabolical
Castro supporter of socialism to achieve that objective, the future of the
Cuban economy is linked more than ever today with the decisions that emanate of
Washington and of the President's visit Barack Obama. The North American
administration has facilitated that they are begun to carry out combined
projects in all the possible environments but with a Cuban government that has
not been able to solve none of the fundamental problems that confronts the
country
I
consider that the reception to Obama on the part of the Cuban people will be
very warm, of great affection and with a lot of enthusiasm then exists the
impression that the American president wants to make something good for the Cuban
town, and that, in some measure can help to motivate certain
"opening". Obama was even a needy country of light, still inside of a
call "special period", maintained in the darkness and in the utopian
for long dates, where the administrative corruption in the state productive
sector goes in increase with base and it causes in the economic own lack, that
which corrupts the bases of our nation and although many deny them the social
consideration and one has for many as shameless and inability, it continues advancing.
He will meet with a people, which is needy to educate their citizens so that
they learn how to work, needful of rescuing many social and ethical values lost
in these years of mistake and stupidity, to take decisions and responsibilities
to make prosperous to the country and to take it out of the misery and the
hunger, to a needy people of growing to advance and to achieve effective
changes with sense of urgency, with decisions and a vision strategic collegian
with the own people and their representatives that explains the changes and how
to carry out the same ones, fixing the objectives in a clear and precise way,
to reconstruct the nation, as soon as possible, we need a government that
supports and include all the citizens and like Martí said, "with all and
for the well of all", without exclusions neither oppressions, because
"of anything they would serve the freedom and the right, if the right and
the freedom were not exercised, if still had the thought on their backs, the
whip of the censorship"
Let
us hope Obama speaks of questions that they contribute to a better
understanding and cooperation among both nations, speak of the separate
families and the Cuban in his country, of the necessity that the is eliminated
" North American block", without it, there won't be a development in
the bilateral relationship neither for the own Cuban nation, seen by sight of
short term, let us wait that speaks of the possibility of opening of a great
road for the development, of Cuban exports of products and services, of direct
import and export, of financial credits, of machineries, raw materials and other
one that facilitate to finance and to invest in the business and to make
advance the medium mercantile property, next to the big state interests.
It was also pending to what extent the
Administration of Obama will be able to implant the measures in the time that
he has left, with the Congress dominated by the republicans and with the
increase of the temperature in the primary of the presidential campaign, in which
the candidates have not been scanting means. I consider that the most logical
thing is that a continuity, Barack Obama opened the door and its next visit
should contribute to strengthen its current tendency. Inside United States is
conforming a new consent on the politics toward Cuba and that it´s the tendency that the current President
represents, they can pass several questions before it finishes his command and
he abandon the Presidency, that which I am almost sure will gravitate on the
society and the American public opinion, as well as in the vision that can be
formed the own North American Congress on the topic Cuba and therefore to the
incoming leader it will correspond him to accept all this antecedent one
imposed by Obama.
Of
the trip of Barack Obama, we wait it is a trip that brings light, peace and blessings for the
Cubans, for those that live at first sight the historical moment, for those
that can shake his hands with love, because it is a fact that the history will
transcend and for the time lapsed from Calvin Coolidge until today, it will be
as to live the step of the Comet Halley in 1928 and to revive again in 2016, of
Calvin Coolidge to Barack Obama
